Confessionem.

Entry 64/365

Confession.

From Latin confessionem (nominative confessio) "confession, acknowledgment," noun of action from past-participle stem of confiteri "to acknowledge".

I have a confession to make that will make me sound, perhaps, not well-read. I have never read - at least to this day - perhaps I will change that after I finish this, Alice in Wonderland, or the Little Prince nor I have read Peter Rabbit. Ever.

Most people, in the English-speaking world, read these books when they were kids. My parents never did, in fact, reading was something we should do, we were expected to love it but we had to get on with it ourselves.

That aside - I never read it. To be honest, I only came to know them when I was a lot older. So I have no opinion about them. Alice in Wonderland is the most intriguing one for me because it just sounds a bit macabre, a bit nuts, a bit comical, and very philosophical ( so many people say) all at the same time.

Recently, my interest in reading this book came back again because of some of the quotes I read it:

“Begin at the beginning," the King said, very gravely, "and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

I utterly love this. The simplicity of it makes me laugh. Makes me want to start which is great because I am feeling quite stuck at the moment!

There was another one that made me think about my mortality, my father who is long gone, and what I will come one day to my children.

"In the garden of memory, in the palace of dreams that's where you and I shall meet."

- The Mad Hatter.

These quotes are so profound. Another evening of a lot of thinking and very little doing.
